New Operating Room Funded by Estate Gift

Participants in the Feb. 14 dedication of the new transcatheter operating room at Forsyth Medical Center donned “bunny suits” to see the equipment firsthand and learn of its capacities from the surgeons who use it most. An anonymous donor recently made a $1 million estate commitment that allowed Novant Health Foundation Forsyth Medical Center to fund an innovative new operating room to provide heart valve replacements to high-risk patients.

In the new operating room, surgeons using the latest imaging equipment can replace the aortic valve without opening the chest. This is especially valuable for patients whose overall health would not tolerate open-heart surgery.

Support through an estate gift or other planned giving option allows our Foundation to move forward with major projects like this new transcatheter operating room, while also allowing donors to fully appreciate the impact that their gifts will have on the community. Estate gifts are a significant and meaningful way to support a medical center or community need while also allowing family to actively take part in the project and see how your donation truly makes a difference.

We are grateful to our donor, as are the many patients who will be able to receive this life-extending procedure at Novant Health Foundation Forsyth Medical Center.
